Lisa Battaglino is Dean Emeritus of the College of Education and Health Sciences at Bridgewater State University. She began her career at BSU as the first learning-disabilities specialist where she assisted faculty in ushering in the Americans with Disabilities Act and spent the following 30 years as a special education professor, chairperson, and dean promoting the values of social justice, diversity, and inclusion. 

She advanced projects geared at improving conditions for individuals with disabilities and established partnerships with the Ministry of Education in Russia and Belize geared at strengthening special education. Dr. Battaglino has conducted numerous presentations and keynote addresses locally, nationally and internationally, offering information on teacher education and inclusion. She has contributed to scholarly journals and book chapters including Remembering Massachusetts State Normal Schools and 15 Letters on Education in Singapore.  Carlotta River is her first work of fiction.
